A Standard for Canadian Furniture Manufacturing

Walking through a furniture store and feeling the tightly woven hard fabric and then the almost plastic sticky feeling of the “wooden” table across the way. What is it made of? Who actually hammered in that nail? Is it wood or just meant to look like wood? Will it last at least a couple of years? Crap I still haven't fixed the back on that one shelf at home I bought not that long ago...
This is the current state of the majority of our furniture industry. A lack of knowledge, glitzy marketing that says almost nothing, and a corporate greed that compounds it all.
Iron Oak Canada is being built around a growing movement of knowing where things come from, social and environmental responsibility and longevity. I want to develop and share what I believe should be the standard of Canadian Furniture Manufacturing. Where the materials are sourced locally and ethically, with a mind to their future when they have outlived their use.
I will start to look to this future by looking at the past. Building beautiful Furniture and Home Decor that is made to be bought once and enjoyed for a lifetime. Where every time you feel the warm softness of the wood with your hands you're reminded of our glorious country and what she provides us. I want you to feel pride many years from now sitting in your favorite chair with family at the dinner table with so much life left to give.
I dream of the future my furniture will have when I am long gone, the lives they will touch and the memories each piece will hold.
This is my why. Join my journey on the how.
